About Us
Balancing Profit with Purpose
Welcome to Take Roots LTD.
We are Inoke and Laura. For the past 8 years we have lived in England (where Laura was born) and while life is good, we often struggled to save for our future and wondered what we would be able to leave behind for our children. We looked around and saw many people in the same situation as ourselves and this is where our story starts.
We had a desire to return to Fiji (where Inoke is from) to get back to his 'roots' in farming and to make something of the abundant resources available, whilst also contributing to and serving the local people.
We had an idea- what if we could start a business that would truly benefit everyone involved? We could partner with people who wanted to see their retirement savings flourish by helping them to invest in a small portion of a global market.

Trees offer a great investment opportunity but are also great for the planet. Trees are the lungs of our ecosystem and also provide food and protection for wildlife. Planting new forests can mitigate the effects of climate change, and while we are not naive enough to think a few trees will make a big difference, we do know that putting money into something green is the best place that it could go today.
Why sandalwood?
Sandalwood is a very valuable tree with large market interest due to its fragrant oil and wood which holds its fragrance for years. Sandalwood oil is extracted from the wood for use in the pharmaceutical and beauty industries and this makes sandalwood one of the most expensive woods in the world.
1 kilo of sandalwood oil currently sells for over US$3000. That’s 5 times more than silver- and prices are rising. Global demand for sandalwood is growing, and expected to rise 20 - 25% per year according to the South India Sandalwood Products Dealers and Exporters Association. This growth is driven by pharmaceutical and beauty industries where the oil is highly prized.

Why Fiji?
Fiji offers ideal growing conditions for optimum yield on Sandalwood trees. They love a sunny climate with humid conditions and well drained soil, and our land in the Fijian highland offers all this in abundance.
The indigenous flora and fauna of Fiji are also very favourable, offering abundant complementary species yet very few wild herbivores that would decimate crops.
As well as providing great growing conditions, Fiji is the place we know and understand. With its go-slow pace of life, Fiji gives us opportunity to grow and nurture our crops with the care they need without distraction.
Lastly, Fiji is a developing nation; this means we are able to keep all running costs very low to maximise profit on all our investments. It also means we are able to contribute a lot of our profits into really making a difference in the local community.
Serving people
A huge part of what we do in Fiji is serving the local community. The area where we work has suffered from a lack of development and we see a vision of something much greater for the people in the region. We are currently at the start of our journey but we hope to improve infrastructure, employment prospects and access to education. You can follow our journey of community service and see your money impacting real people on our blog.
